Hi there,

This is just an informal newsletter to keep you up to date with what is happening at AirGun Scotland. In fact, if anyone can come up with a better name for it than AGS Newsletter, then fire away....

Anyway, in under a month we now have 103 members which is truely impressive! I did put out the call for 100 within the month so we have done it! Our next target is 250 members within 3 months, which may be a tad harder? or will it? Why not spread the word by email, phone, word of mouth about AirGun Scotland, it is YOUR forum, please help to make it bigger and better.

One way that you can do this is to add a link to us in your signature on other forums, I use a signature like below...

Lenny Warren
Rapid MFR .22
MTC Viper 4-16x50
S&W 586 6"
www.AirGunScotland.org

And you can actually make the web url an actual hyperlink. It's a great way of advertising this forum, although make sure you follow the particular forums rules regarding signatures. (If anyone needs a help, just let me know!) You could also add this sig to your email if you were really keen! ;-)

I am currently working on a proper logo for the forum, and an advertising flyer that could be pinned up in gunshops or distributed at events, country fairs etc. The logo could also be used in various promotional materials like mugs, hats, badges etc, if that is desired. A logo is also desirable as it adds a sense of professionalism which is essential if we are to be taken seriously. I fully intend to promote sporting airguns at Scottish Parliament and Westminster level.

On a side note to this, if any member is a graphic designer, or artistic and feel up to designing a "corporate" for us, please get in touch. Also if we refer to AirGun Scotland, can we use the capitals on the A, G and S... which affords us the initials AGS.

To build up the forum, we need to keep it busy. This means lots of posts, lots of info and help. We need to make it the one stop shop for Scottish (and non Scottish) Airgunners. If members can keep posting relevant posts, and also answer other members queries the whole thing will snowball. We also need to get the clubs talking. If members who are in a club can keep spreading the word amongst their club, and advertise that the fact that an individual members area for each club is FREE and means they have a great means of communication, (private if so wished!) then that would help a great deal.

There are a few features in the forum that members may not be aware of, or are unsure how to use. Feel free to make the most of them, no charge! ;-) If you are unsure how to use them, just ask...

LIVE AIRGUN CHAT
This feature is for casual, general chat only. It is not archived, it eventually disappears. It's a shoutbox, used for bringing immediate attention, or just for a bit of fun. It is always visible at the top of every page. You can also send private shouts, but are maybe better using the PM feature. (see below)

PERSONAL MESSAGING
Next to a members name, there is a downwards arrow, click that and you'll see an option to send a message. This sends a private message to that member. If they are online they get a pop up box, if not they get an email letting them know they have a private message. Great communication tool.

GALLERY
You can post up pics of your rifle, pistol, or your HFT shoot, or hunting pics, whatever... Best to keep them to about 800px 72dpi by proportion. (If you don't understand that, just upload anyway, it will resise for you!)

BLOGS
A Blog is an online diary, you can talk about shooting, rifles or just life in general..

SHOUTBOX
See Live Airgun Chat above... it's the same thing.

ARCADE
It's an amusement arcade, games... everyone needs a bit of fun now and again....

CALENDAR
Feel free to add FT, HFT events, Club events, whatever...

MEMBERS
View a list of members, you can read their profile, send them a message etc.

SEARCH
You can search the forum, much like you use Google to search the web.

HELP
Does exactly what it says on the tin!

Any other suggestions for AGS, please feel free to shout out!

I believe that Scotland will be at the forefront of any new airgun legislation, and it's time that we organised ourselves better to promote our sport and hobby. We are not here to replace other forums or associations, just maybe act as a means of communication between all of them, and maybe help each other out and who knows, have a bit of fun along the way.

I have a few things up my sleeve for the future, and I'm sure you'll approve... watch this space...
