Hi there,

Apparently if we do a bulk join through our forum, we get a discounted rate for membership of Scottish Association for Country Sports. Now instead of joining BASC, which do an excellent job BTW, we could join SACS and the money would stay in Scotland. Excellent £5million public liability insurance.

Thoughts? Anyone up for it?

I've been a member for a few years now & never needed to use the cover.

I will say, that it comes in handy, when you tell the land owner that you have £5 million insurance.

They will also do you a cover letter to this effect, stating what the cover is etc,
on headed paper, in turn for you to give in to the land owner.

I've got to support them, they were nice enough to take me along to Scone for the three days
this year, Ok i was helping out. :D

Yes, i think they would likely do club insurance,
as they take on the likes of the syndicates etc.

Give the office a call on 01698 885206

and put your question proposal over to them.

They don't bite

Actually, the association is very down to earth, with
normal people at the helm.

Ok, SACs have been in touch, pretty positive response I reckon... and I quote..

Quote

On the ‘club’ membership, our club membership rate is £22 per person rather than the £30 for full individual membership. The reason for the reduced price is that all members of a club renew annually on the same date via the club organiser, which saves us administration and postage, and we pass this saving on to the club members.
So, to get a discounted rate every year we would have to join together, as a AGS collective..

Quote

If you can arrange this, we can easily set up a permanent ‘Scottish Airgunners’ club for you.

Not sure what they mean by this???

Quote

However, from our experience with other internet clubs, it is almost impossible to achieve this level of admin, as people want to join and renew from all sorts of dates as individuals. If this is likely to be the position with your forum, I would be happy to agree that anyone who joins as a forum member for the first time can join at £22, and then revert to full membership when they renew after a year.

So basically, any member on here can join quoting AGS and get the discounted rate of £22 for the first year, then subsequent years at £30.

Quote

Finally, I have written an item for our forthcoming magazine publicising the forum as you requested - the publication date will be around early September.

Sounding good!!

So, what do you think? We join individually quoting AGS and take 1 year discount?

OR... we join as a club, and make a renewal date, 1st September for example... and pay x10 or how many we get and then renew as a club every year?? Not sure what this involves, maybe we all chip into a Paypal account, then pay them and they send one of us a packet with 10 membership cards? We have a SACs liason officer??

Thoughts guys?

wouldnt joining as a club we would need to change the forum to a club,as most of us here are in different clubs, also does it cover vermin hunting on private ground..

just a point..

forum, club, just a name... I'm sure as a collective of airgun shooters we could be whatever we want? You can be an internet club... I very rarely hunt, presumably this will be more useful to others, but YES it would cover vermin hunting on private land, £5 million public liability!
