we need sites like this and only the members can make it work,it also gives us a voice that the local press cant
pee us off with,if air gunning goes down and gets banned you only have yourselfs to blame.
this might be a small rant but it will be bigger in time, you never know the money raised could help out a member.
thanks for my small bit

But whatever it takes, we should do it. In this gun paranoid Island groups like this are essential!

Not sure how realistic this would be to set up, or maybe something else along this line.

Another side to this, SACs membership would cover us as a club if we held a small competition as a club!

How about a AGS annual charity shoot!
Say for example, open to all shooters! regardless of membership to associations or clubs!
So invite as many people as you can, the shoot is free entry but donations (say for example £5)
are collected and the money
paid into the forum account.
You could then run it as an annual competition and each club takes a turn if interested in hosting the event!
Trophies could be purchased, reclaimed from the donations made! (trophies are cheap and gives shooters something to go for)
Or try and get the shoot sponsored, or say backed by UKAHFT and see if they could organise and speak to a manafacturer and maybe put up a rifle or scope as a main prize!!!
Just a thought, i have no problems with Juniper Greens ground being used as a venue, hell if it means encouraging new people to the sport and for free then it cant be a bad thing.

p.s. as Lenny has pointed out SACS would cover us and all shooters at any such event!

Great Idea and it would bring the sport some positive press

Even better, just been out shooting and it's a great time to think about things!
here's a better idea how about hosting during this week???? http://www.nationalshootingweek.co.uk/
Could just have a host club who gives the use of the land, as many people as possible help to set the course up the day before, stay the night camping on site.
Have a wee knees up and get to know members etc.
make the course open any kind of set up HFT / FT / Plinker / open sights...blah blah
basically anyone with any kind of rifle can turn up, if theres enough interest i dont see it being a problem setting up a pistol course aswell.......any thoughts?

Loads of people make a fortune on ebay without grief!!
Charity shoot sounds great, but we should maybe raise money for an actual charity? Great PR, says he in a cynical way... I don't mean that actually, great to donate to charity and any profits made in here, shop etc. I would rather go to site running costs, after that, charity would be great in my opinion!!
