From the SUN 12/5/10
70,856 firearms held by 26,072 certificate holders up 2% on 2008
135,768 shotguns held by 50,308 certificate holders down 0.1% on 2008

No mention of air guns - unless this includes FACs - but obviously Mckaskill likes licences and I guess
eventually this is the way they will go.

the problem is with a fac licence is the police make up their own interpretation of the law plus they have no records of who owns what air guns at this moment in time and the criminal element will not register theirs, guess who will pay for that
it will be a repeate of the knee jerk reaction we suffered after the dunblain incident which resulted in my shooting discipline of olympic pistol was banned (.22 rimfire) lernt not to trust politicians from that moment on

Instead of trying to trust them, why not offer an option and a workable alternative. Least then they have an option to either listen or ignore! Least you know you have tried all that was available.
The problem over the past decades is that shooters have decided to keep quiet and just blend in!
If there was a common voice that opposed or counter attacked all the negative publicity then maybe we might even have a fighting chance...
But it goes round in circles, everyone moans and bitches but i wonder how many shooters bother to contact politicians and fight 'our' corner?
