Mr bonzer
Good to talk to you the other night. I have now checked Labour's position on air guns and it is as I said:
Our gun laws are among the toughest in the world, and gun murders in Scotland is at their lowest level in over ten years.
Legislation on air weapons is currently reserved. At a UK level the law on air weapons has been tightened with the minimum age for owning an airgun raised from 17 to 18, mail-order sales have been banned and all retailers must now be registered. These recent changes are now having an effect.
We support the proposals contained within the Calman Commission for powers on air weapons to be devolved to the Scottish Parliament.
If devolved, we would welcome moves for the Scottish Parliament to carefully consider what further practical and workable action can be taken to ensure air weapons are not getting into the wrong hands.
It is worth bearing in mind too that while the SNP say they would ban airguns, what they mean is they want to more strictly licence them. Labour has a record on effective licensing - in the last Parliament we introduced a tough new licensing regime for the sale of non-domestic knives, which the SNP delayed and are only now implementing.
I hope that helps. Let me know if you need anything else.

Here are the responses from the midlothian Candidates ( That could be botherd to answer)
Dear Mr McArthur
Thank you for your email.
As someone who has supported licensed rifle clubs in the past I have no hesitation supporting shooting sports according to the codes of practice.
I hope this is helpful.
Yours sincerely
DAVID HAMILTON
Scottish Labour Party Candidate

Dear Mr McArthur,
Thank you for your enquiry on my views on shooting.
The Scottish Green Party is fundamentally opposed to blood sports. I believe the shooting of any animal should only be allowed as part of a valid population control measure, to protect threatened habitats to relieve an animal from suffering as pest control for humane slaughter or subsistence, and that this should only be done by someone trained to do so.
I am happy for you to forward this to your organisation and to anyone who may be interested. I hope this is of help.
Yours sincerely,
Ian Baxter
Scottish Green Party candidate for Midlothian

Dear Kenneth, thank you for your e-mail. Whilst I am not a fan of gun sports, I recognise that it is a sport enjoyed by many and that animal numbers need to be controlled in some areas. My main concern is that people are safe and that animals do not suffer needlessly. So long as these criteria are met, I am relaxed.
Thank you for writing to me about this important matter.
Regards
