I`ts no gonnae happen. Nea chance they can ban air weapons as there are far too many in ownership legally or otherwise. Air weapons are enjoying a kind of reincarnation in use and sales are still rising as we speak. Maybe if all owners photocopy they`re receipts and threaten to send them to our local MPs for repayment in the advent of a ban would be 1 more reason for them to think sensibly on the issue. it has not even came to debate yet never mind banning them so we should keep pressure on MPs as much as we can until such times. I guess we`ll find out in the end and we can only hope that they do see sense and take a different approach to those who use them incorrectly. After all, it`s not the weapon doing the shooting but the one who`s behind the weapon. How many people over the years have been run over by drunk drivers (god rest them) and they would never consider banning cars. Hopefully common sense will prevail.

I doubt if a ban will happen, but can see some form of license being forced on us.

G`day mosstrooper, i agree that some sort of licence will be brought in and maybe the need to store weapons in a gun cabinet. Personally i widnae look on this as a bad thing, onythings better than a ban, just more hoops tae jump through.

Not good for the sport if it happens. How many new guys ( especially youngsters ) are going to go to the bother of getting a cabinet, filling in all the paperwork, possibly being interviewed etc. etc.

I agree 100% but, we`ll just need tae make the best o a bad situation if we legitimate shooters want to continue enjoying our sportand jump through the hoops so tae speak. I`m pissed off that again we find ourselves in the situation where the majority suffer because of the minority. When are government going to realise that banning is not the answer for most problems, not just weapons. You never know folks, maybe when it does come up to be drafted they`ll decide the laws are stringent enough...we can hope and dream a wee bitty eh.

I think a licensing scheme would be the first step towards a ban. Afterall, the implimentation of such a scheme would make little or no difference to crime levels. No doubt the only people who would apply for a license are already law abiding shooters.Louts and thugs would still be taking pot -shots at cats etc. The first people to get a knock on the door if a ban was introduced would be all the law abiding license holders on the Police database.....
