Fresh from the Scottish Government website, their own figures stating that airgun crime in Scotland fell by 45% in the last year, as it has fallen for the last four years, in fact last year reported airgun crimes were lower than in any of the last ten years...
What "special problem"?
I trust everyone can use these figures when writing to newspapers/politicos etc.
I'd suggest an approach of "why is this government intent on wasting more taxpayers money" would be a good approach.... ;-)

Perhaps it fell because the police are enforcing the law more firmly as it stands? Or the likely consequences of the various recent legislation is slowly sinking into the minds of those who would do these things?

Police enforcing legislation, not likely!
It pains me to say that your average copper nowadays is in a terrible position.
As an organisation they are tied up in paperwork and work in a culture dominated by fear of their own management who have all the leadership skills and brain power of a bag of broccoli trying to work out quadratic equations.
Please dont see me as anti police, I was there for 10 years, but most of my mates now just want to go into work then come home without getting into the s*it.
Genuinely feel very sorry for the good ones as they are damned if the do and damned if they dont.

BASC and SARPA encourage all shooters to "letter" their local rags given the new crime figures, round 1 of the consultation is on the 29th Nov.
If you have input you wish considered for the Consultation feel free to send through to Chair@sarpa.org.uk
The starting point is no change! Give the Majority SNP gov I guess we're going to get something, trick will be to minimise the damage.
More people have been killed with golf clubs in the last 10 years than airguns! we dont have a problem with Airguns in Scotland

Are there any official figures on how many air rifles there currently are in Scotland?
