Hi guys,

We need a logo so we can get mugs, hats, beanbags etc. Any designers in here? Opinions and your attempt wanted.

I've quickly rattled this up, thoughts?

I've updated this, as no point showing all the trials, only the final version. This is the final logo I THINK!!! Feel free to download it and print it, use it for whatever, as long as it promotes safe responsible Airgun ownership!

Very nice!

The rifle looks perhaps too obviously like a steyr, do we want the logo to look a little more generic?

As if? Jings, perish the thought... Basically the best logo I have at the moment. It needs to look good in silouhette. This could potentially go to pellet pouches, beanbags, mugs, hats etc. which is my basic idea.

Yes it looks good, but ditto what numb nut said. How about crossed rifles on the st andrews cross?

I had originally thought that, but it was looking too muddled, sometimes less is better. It is a bit of a cliche, crossed rifles, but I suppose so is the saltire crest. My main idea was the 52nd lowland division crest.

If you are going to have any rifle it'll look like something, don't see the problem with the steyr, but if anyone else has any graphics let me know...

Thinking about it a bit more - we probably do want a logo that says we're serious about our sport, so the logo should probably depict a top end rifle rather than some cheap break barrel that some people might more readily associate with airgun abusers... What do others think?

Would the general public know the difference?

Good question - I reckon some (perhaps most) of the general public probably think airguns are only owned by neds and haven't a clue that there are responsible owners out there who are enthusiastic about their sport. I wonder if they would be less likely to make the same association when looking at PCP target air rifle compare to a break barrel (assuming they look closely enough to notice).

Here is my old cap badge. Rifles could also be behind the main graphic.

Mosstrooper, didn't know you were in the mob, my great grandfather was in the Kings Dragoon Guards, a trooper in the Boer war!

Anyway, the rifle is generic, no need to worry about the rifle in the silouhette is there? What should be the main components, saltire, airgun, what else? The web??

Not the mob, Cadets I,m afraid! . Giving it more thought, like numb nut, I think the Steyr silouhette is fine, and the big st andrews cross/shield background looks good and obviously Scottish. Just trying to chuck some ideas into the pot. The more I look at the logo the more I like it.

I'll work on a few more logos. The main problem is you need something that will reproduce in sticker, embroidered badge, enammeled badge, etc. etc. etc.

I like the new logo, I think it looks really good.
One small point though, You need to change the tacky Steyr for a nice Daystate! :P

I think the point I'm making is that if the rifle is easily identifiable (to shooters), they may prefer it to be the make of their own / favourite rifle, and you're never going to be able to please everyone.

So, I'd vote for a generic rifle.
(as long as it wasn't a springer or a fancy FT thing and it looked like a Daystate) :D

Daystate? Nah... if not a Steyr then a Rapid! I'll try and generic it up a bit, anyone any good rifle art? It does need something else, not sure about the date though!

See, that's what I mean, if you design the badge you would want a Steyr or a Rapid whereas I would prefer a good rifle on it :P (just kidding, getting you back for he dismissive "Daystate? Nah.." bit. :)

I still like the general layout, but how about "AirGunScotland.org" and "Est' 2008"
I think it should be kept simple. If it's to be made into sew-on or enamel badges you don't want it too fussy.

I'd vote for skipping the year - an established date only sounds impressive if it was yonks ago, init?

So you don't want a picture of my rabbit stopper? :D

Just a thought to throw a spanner in the works with the proposed new logo.

I've just come over to the airgun world from target archery.
The governing body for archery in Scotland is the Scottish Archery Association whose "logo" is a Saltire with crossed arrows in the shape of a shield. It has been this since before I started archery 47 years ago.
Now the Lyon King of Arms for Scotland has decreed that we cannot use the shield logo as it is heraldic, unless we, as an Association, pay £900 for the privilege.
This has caused the Association to hold a "new logo" vote among the membership. Unfortunately, IMO, the new designs are pants compared with the original shield.

I'm all for using a shield, but beware, the Lyon King of Arms may be watching.

Perhaps another shape instead of a shield?

Having left this food for thought, I'll say goodnight.

This punter?

http://www.lyon-cour...C_FirstPage.jsp

Mmmm... weird. What about all the tartan tourists buying their stickers and all sorts of saltite stuff at castles etc. Do they pay for the privilige?

How did it come about, the Lyon King (joke in there!) finding out I mean??
