After Andrew’s Law is passed at Holyrood, anyone wanting to own an air rifle will have to apply for a licence through police.
Andy added: “There is no need for someone living in a housing scheme to have an air rifle in their home.
“They just cause pain and misery and there is no legitimate reason for someone to be walking around carrying a weapon of this sort.
Just need to wait for the licence details

We are a minority community and an easy target.
We'll wait and see what the license brings but I really woory about the fairness of police in different areas as I live in one region and shoot in another.
Truly disgusted

Yes, but the thunder is wrong! I don't see any positives at all. I have a shotgun ticket. I have done for many years and I don't have anything against licensing as such, but a licensing system for airguns is a bit different. Airguns are often the introduction to shooting sports. At entry level, it is a cheap and easy way of shooting. A license system would put many people off starting to shoot. A youngster who "fancies a go at airgunning" is going to be put off by the form filling etc. He/she will leave it and do something else involving less red tape.. It is therefore as good as a ban. It is a slow, delayed reaction ban, because, after time, numbers will drop.
Just my thoughts. I hope I am wrong.
Licensing will just create a list of legal, law abiding airgun owners. Any idiots wanting to abuse airguns will still do so, they won't be licensed and it won't change a thing.

I want to know that there will be adequate appeals for rejected licenses and that licenses should be granted unless there is a real reason not to. I do not want some plod what doesn't like guns to refuse me a license as any application for future license will no doubt have the question " have you ever been refused.......".
I heard all the assurancies from the people working hard to get this sorted out, but truth be told I am not hearing a lot that convinces me we will have much of a sport left. If the licence translates in to a FAC then most competions will be obsolete almoat overnight.
We are the law abiders, I don't do drugs and don't sell them.
