There is an important discussion going on in the forum, one which affects us all. Is AirGun shooting on the decline in Scotland? There was no Scottish team at the FT Home Internationals the other week, turn out was very low at the Scottish HFT Championships a few weeks back, and we still do not have the results from the Scottish FT Championships nearly 2 weeks ago.

It's not just competition shooters, it's getting harder and harder to buy, keep and shoot air weapons in general and the Scottish Govt. are desperate to ban us all..

Please contribute to the discussion here...

http://www.airgunsco...p?showtopic=600

I personally think we are suffering from a lack of communication, and because of this I am thinking of organising an AGS charity shoot, with proper prizes donated by suppliers and all proceeds going to charity. We need to get this into the nespapers and media, as we need to promote our sport, don't let the politicians have it all their own way! Hopefully we can pull together all the airgun shooters, plinkers, hunters, FT and HFT and I think our forum is an ideal meeting place for all these shooters. We have banter between ourselves, lets have a fun day out, get to meet each other, raise some money for charity and raise our profile in the media. Hopefully a side benefit will be to get more of a competitive spirit going so we can increase our club memberships and who knows, we could see a Scottish Team entering more competitions!!

If no other organisation or body is prepared to push this, then we will... I'm not prepared to sit back and see my new found sport die...

Please tell as many shooters as you can about this, spread it around the other forums, recruit more members, lets make AGS the biggest and the best, and I want to see a Scottish Team competing at the highest level next year, could you be in that team??

hi Lenny,

for me personally to have my shooting taken away from me would be devastating.

i don`t shoot f/t i only hunt, but it gives me, exercise, fresh air, an escape from the hustle and bustle of work, and a great deal of enjoyment.
i would find my more unwilling to leave the house on my days off.
no one likes to admit to mental health, but i suffer from bipolar disorder, which in my case leads to depressive episodes.
i would love to apply for a fac air rifle or rimfire so i could shoot the bunnies on my permission at greater distances, but there is little chance i would be granted one due to my condition.
i get by with my two BSA scorpions, and get my fair share or bunnies.
but my main enjoyment like i say is it gets me out, and i gives me a sense of peace being out in the countryside.
i would hate to lose this. so lets forge forward, and protect the right to keep what we enjoy doing.

good for you mate.
The country side is a good release and way of winding down.
I quite often just find myself taking the rifle for a walk :)

Hi Noddy,

Good for you mate. i used to find that if I was stressed out, either a days fishing or out with the gun calmed me no end. You don't get that with many other hobbies. To be out in the countryside is one of our treasures, couple it with a gun and a loyal dog there is no finer way to spend some time!

It is one of the best hobbies out there, I grew up using an air rifle and a fishing rod.

Couldn't agree more, Whether shooting , fishing or just taking the dog for a walk it gets rid of a weeks worth of hassle

Lenny,

If you want any help,
I would be proud to set up a course at Juniper Green for an HFT charity shoot endorsed/sponsored by the AGS. (as long as it's OK with Kenny)
You can organise the event, I'll just build a course for you.
I'll even make it easy-ish for the noobs :)
