no so much a well done but more of awesome performance, national silverware coming home to scotland!!! these guys down south are very very good but we are catching them!
Actually I see some positives in this. Although the headline is extremely misleading, it actually confirms 'licencing' rather than an outright ban. The status quo was never going to continue so no point getting upset. As SARPA chairman Graham Ellis keeps saying, it's now damage limitation to get the best possible 'licence' scheme in place, so best get behind it and move on. You can't fart against thunder.
Mav - whilst I agree with your arguments, there is no chance that nothing is going to happen. The hope and general belief is it won't be a ban or full FAC type licence but a permit, and not per gun but per person. Don't see why you think you would not get one just because you are an occasional user. Graham Ellis (SARPA chairman who is working on the consultative board) is doing a fantastic job and has made special effort to ensure recreational air gun shooters are included in legitimate users definition as well as competition shooters and pest controllers.
Also joining a club may give you a better case for having a permit if you are worried and really want to continue shooting.
Golf clubs and their ammo (golf balls) are next on the licensing list because they are a dangerous weapon in the wrong hands!
